We offer two labels, Swiftwater Cellars and No.9. The Swiftwater Cellars label is our flagship label exemplifying the best of the Pacific Northwest’s grape growing regions including Bordeaux varietals from Washington State and Pinot Noir from Oregon State. Our No. 9 label commemorates the history of the site’s coal mining history presenting our guests with our house pour Bordeaux red blend and Bordeaux white blend. The latest addition to the No. 9 label is a Pinot Noir from Oregon.
Swiftwater Cellars
Swiftwater Cellars is our flagship label offering wines of enormous depth, concentration, complexity and cellar aging. They represent “the best of the best” from the Pacific Northwest.
- Proprietary Red: A rich, powerful yet elegant Bordeaux–based blend
The flagship red for Swiftwater Cellars sourced from a selection of the most renowned vineyards in Washington State. The Proprietary Red is made primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon blended with balanced percentages of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Syrah and Malbec. The wine in your glass is a wine of provocative richness and complexity of supple tannins with a long lasting finish.
- Pinot Noir: 100% varietal from Oregon’s Willamette Valley
This is the culmination of a vision shared by winemaker Tony Rynders and proprietor Don Watts. With Rynders possessing over 15 years experience making Pinot Noir for top wineries in the Willamette Valley, they wanted to emphasize Pinot Noir as one of the foremost areas of focus for Swiftwater Cellars. This is a unique concept for a Washington State winery and truly sets us apart from other Washington State wineries. The wine is blended from a hand-picked collection of top Pinot Noir vineyards in Oregon State. The diversity of soils, elevations, clones and rootstocks provides our winemakers the ability to make a consistently high-quality Pinot Noir each and every year.
- Syrah: Warm, dark berry fruit meets spicy, refined structure
Syrah is one of the great red wines of Washington State setting its mark in the history of the Washington wine industry in the early 1990’s. This is a velvety yet subtlety powerful wine demonstrating some of the best characteristics Syrah has to offer. The dark dried fruit flavors are married with spices of anise and cinnamon creating a complex profile that may be initially subtle but keeps giving in a long finish.
No. 9
The No. 9 label focuses on the intense fruit forward flavor profiles indicative of grapes grown in the Pacific Northwest. Our winemakers craft these wines so they may be enjoyed upon release or after moderate bottle age. The No. 9 label is available as our house pour or “by the glass” in the tasting room and in the Hoist House Restaurant.
- Red Wine: Our "Best of the Rest” Bordeaux-based blend
A red blend focused on more approachable Bordeaux varietals including Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. This is a fruit forward drinking wine with medium body and beautiful just-ripened berry flavors.
- Semillon: Traditional Bordeaux white blend
Semillon has become a “tried and true” white varietal of Washington and truly one of its best kept secrets. Our No. 9 White blend blended with a small amount of Sauvignon Blanc offers a profile of nutty, melon and citrus flavors.
- Pinot Noir: An elegant wine, again from the Willamette Valley
A smooth and supple Pinot Noir that captures the just-ripened, juicy flavors that make the Willamette Valley one of the top Pinot Noir regions in the world. The flavor profiles of red fruits, light to medium body and softened tannins offers the drinker quaffable enjoyment upon release.
